What is it that you want to attract into your life? An ideal partner, more wealth, or to finally check that destination off your bucket list? It doesn’t matter if it’s a specific thing or just wanting more abundance and joy in your life, you must first become the energy you want to attract. Here is a list of 5 essential steps to help set a solid foundation and bring you that much closer to the power of manifestation.

How can you be the energy you want to attract?
Step 1: Notice The Voices in Your Head
We all have them. There is a constant chatter going on inside our heads, shaping and framing our perception of the reality we’re experiencing. This step is so important because not everyone is aware of this voice. It’s the inner dialogue that decides how we react to things that happen in our lives. Author Michael Singer used a great example to help us identify the voice. If you’re reading this, and I ask you “Do you hear that voice inside your head?” and you think, “What voice? There’s no voice in my head.” THAT’S IT! The one who replied is precisely THAT voice.
It’s crucial that we first begin to develop an awareness of that voice. It is the voice of our conscious mind and it also represents the ego. The voice that has the power to control how we feel, the way we see ourselves, the tool that either helps us attract what we want or slows us down.
This voice helps us make sense of what goes on around us, it also helps us decide how we respond in any given situation. If you pay attention and notice that this voice of yours tends to be mostly negative, then it’s a great place to start. If you want to attract more abundance, wealth, love, or joy, the good must come from a mind that is in alignment with these positive energies.
Step 2. Understand The Conscious vs. Subconscious mind
The voice we talked about earlier is a part of our conscious mind. According to neuroscientists, over 90% of our brain activity goes beyond the conscious mind and operates from our subconscious. That is where the magic happens. Our subconscious mind is constantly working to maintain our bodily and motor functions. You don’t have to think “scratch” for your hand to lift itself and go for that itch. You don’t have to tell your heart to beat, or for all the cells in your body to keep you healthy and fight off intruders. Our subconscious mind is conducting and orchestrating a beautiful symphony 24/7, even when we’re asleep.
Manifesting and attracting what you want happens with the subconscious mind. However, the conscious mind and “the voice” play an important role in the process. Our conscious thoughts are the gatekeepers to our subconscious. Again, this is why it is so important that we begin to bring awareness to the voice in our heads. Meditation has become more popular in recent times, there are apps with guided meditations to essentially quiet our conscious mind, allowing us to shift our awareness and perhaps connect better with the subconscious.
The thoughts in your head that generate emotions such as anger, insecurity, self-doubt, or fear – that is all part of the voice or the ego. You are NOT those thoughts nor your ego.
If it’s allowed, the ego will continue to get in your way of accessing the power to attract what you truly want. It will find ways to sneak up and shake your beliefs. However, you can begin to recognize the ego or voice as a separate entity, and no longer choose to identify with it or give power to the thoughts that do not serve you.
We must shift our conscious thinking, and allow it to communicate with our subconscious mind from a new place of innate trust and gratitude.
Step 3: Attract From a Place of Abundance and Trust – Not Fear or Lack
One of the common things people experience is this: We set our intentions for a better future due to fear or lack. “I wish I could find a better job” “I hope I’ll have more money in my bank because right now I’m broke.” “I want to find a better partner because it’s been a string of bad luck.” – If we are manifesting from a place of fear or lack, we can only attract more of the same.
This is why Steps 1 and 2 are absolutely essential. If the foundation of our conscious mind operates from a negative place of disbelief, it will be nearly impossible to attract the energy and things we truly desire. We must shift the way we think in a major way. For the longest time, I didn’t believe I was good enough, and so I wasn’t.
We are the creators of our reality.
If deep down, I believe I’m not good enough or worthy to receive abundance, then so it will be. I made a conscious decision to begin releasing all the old thought patterns and the voices that no longer serve me. I decided that I am good enough, I can attract what I want with intention and actionable steps. Therefore, I do.
Write down each day what you’re grateful for in your life. If you have 5$ in your bank account, be grateful for it. So you may attract more of it. The strength of manifestation and attracting what you want must come from a place of joy and gratitude, and you must believe.
Change ‘I hope’ to ‘I know’ – “I know that I am surrounded by joy and financial abundance, and I am open to receive more.” Use present tense instead of future tense. Believe and live the reality you wish to have.
One of my absolute favorite lines that I read from a book is: Most people say “I’ll believe it when I see it.” Instead, shift your perspective to “I’ll see it when I believe it”
Practice not only daily gratitude but self-love. We must first KNOW that we are worthy of what we desire, and know it is our reality to attract goodness and abundance.
Step 4: Use Methods That Bring You Joy
There are so many different Law of Attraction and manifestation techniques. There’s the 55×5 method, in which you write the thing you wish to manifest 55 times a day for 5 days straight, you can create a dream board, or you can use the glass of water method. I think there’s absolutely no right or wrong way to manifest what you want as long as it is coming from a place of joy and trust.
Here are some of the practices I enjoy:
- Writing daily gratitude for small and big things.
- Writing down my dream life in the present tense as if I already have it.
- Meditate and quiet down to see if my subconscious has any messages for me.
- Make a digital collage of things I intend to manifest, use it as my screensaver on my laptop & phone.
- Record affirmations with my own writing and voice to listen to.
Find your own way to attract more of what you want, do things and activities that bring your energetic vibration to a higher and more positive frequency.

Step 5. Trust The Process
Whether your manifestation involves religion and prayer, or simply creating powerful messages for yourself, simply have 100% trust in the process and be the energy you want to attract. Remember the sentence: “I’ll see it when I believe it”. You must strengthen your conscious mind and thoughts to deliver and sync up the messages to your subconscious- SO powerful that it is constantly attracting more of the energy you are transmitting.
Personally, I trust in myself and in the universe. I know we are all unique and equally deserving of all the joy and abundance we want from this life. I used to have a completely different mindset towards financial abundance. I simply thought it’s not for me and even felt a sense of disdain towards materialistic people. However, I have shifted my perspective. I know now that financial abundance allows me to live the life I want, and to be able to serve others better.
There are a ton of information and videos out there on “how to manifest instantly”, and it can of course happen. However, I find that having patience along with trust is crucial for the process. The thing you manifest may not show up in the way you thought, and it may not show up in the time you want, but trust that your higher consciousness and that the universe or God knows the right path for you. Do not give up if you feel like it hasn’t worked. Instead re-examine the place you are sending your messages from. Is it from a place or joy and abundance, or fear and lack?
Your subconscious is powerful, and it is constantly manifesting and attracting situations and energies and people into your life. So bring more awareness to your conscious thoughts, and see if there’s a link you might have missed before.
